Master Humphrey's Clock

"To conceal anything from those to whom I am attached, is not in my nature. I can never close my lips where I have opened my heart." Master Humphrey is an old, crippled man living in London. To combat his loneliness, he starts a little club, Master Humphrey’s Clock, and invites its members to read from their manuscripts. Delightful, supernatural, romantic and sometimes a little creepy, this is the collection of their stories. Readers familiar with Dickens will perhaps come across characters and stories they already know as it serves as an introduction to, among others, Barnaby Rudge and The Old Curiosity Shop. Charles Dickens (1812-1870) was an English author, social critic, and philanthropist. Much of his writing first appeared in small instalments in magazines and was widely popular. Among his most famous novels are Oliver Twist (1839), David Copperfield (1850), and Great Expectations (1861).
