They all contain the same basic message: something is not good, and one of you is asking for something different. #2 The really listen to each other card is a powerful intervention that tells the Receiver that you understand they are not enjoying the situation, and that you are willing to work to turn the situation around. #3 When you want to feel safer with someone, you don’t have to get them to see how badly they are behaving. Just tell them you want to feel safer with them. #4 The reason we don’t have a flash card that says, Please don’t take this personally, is because most people don’t know how to not take it personally. If Marjorie wants fifteen more minutes on the phone with her girlfriend, and Paul is ready to watch the DVD, it can be a recipe for conflict.
