His father had fallen asleep first, and then Sean, who had been lying in the dark hospital room with his eyes wide open, dropped off to sleep. #3 When I took care of Sean, I tried to explain to him what happened, but I couldn’t explain it in a simple way. I just told him that his blood pressure was low, and that’s why he fell. He seemed to find those answers comforting. #4 When I transferred Sean to the PICU, I never saw him again. I ended up overstaying my final shift and missed out on a celebratory breakfast with my friends. I hope Sean and his dad are still watching movies and eating potato chips years from now.
