Évangéline: The Many Identities of a Literary Icon

The eponymous character of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s epic poem, Évangéline, is an Acadian girl searching for her long-lost love, Gabriel, during the Expulsion of the Acadians (1755–1764).
